Cooler than a magazine

I love the idea of Sweden's T-POST. I don't know who doesn't love getting mail, and magazines in the mail. I always forget that I've subscribed to things - the other day I got a copy of POP in the mail that I already own, because I forgot I had a subscription. But despite that I already had that issue it was exciting knowing that, yeah! I will be getting more of these! And I have already paid for them...its a surprise every couple months and it feels like its free. T-Post is kind of like getting a magazine, and it calls itself a magazine, but instead, every five weeks (that is more often than it sounds!) you're sent a new t-shirt designed by a different designer, with a news story screened on the inside. "There are t-shirts that can inspire a conversation. And there are t-shirts that can inspire a movement. T-post was created to do both. With T-Post, it’s not just what your t-shirt says about you or the artist who designed it, but also what your t-shirt says about the world. More than just a fashion piece, T-post uses great design as a subversive tool to instigate meaningful thought, conversation, and action. It’s a communication experiment that typically begins with a compliment like ”Nice t-shirt” and continues with the wearer explaining the interesting news story behind the design."about). So awesome, no?

I can't believe it's over! Everything I have been working on this summer kind of peaked this week, the artist I interned for, Rachel Foullon, had her opening Wednesday, my friend got married and last night was the A Détacher show. It looked amazing

Friends With Benefits

The only good part about your friend leaving for Nepal for four months? Living in her bedroom and having access to all her clothing (Thank you Lindsay!). I am obsessed with this tee shirt and wear it probably too much (I hope this is okay! I love you!) as it isn't actually mine, but it is perfect and looks cute belted and is the easiest thing to throw on and still feel kinda cool.

Hot Time

I haven't put much effort into dressing lately, with the exception of work, but I still stick to one-pieces and slip dresses. Otherwise its been too much AA and short shorts and tanks. New York is insanely humid and I wish I could say that I look fresh and put together all of the time but it is sadly not so true!

A few of my friends and I went to the free Dirty Projectors show last weekend in Williamsburg...much of which wasn't spent watching the bands (but standing in line because we walked out thinking we could just walk back in..nope!) and just wandering around in the street drinking. Still so much fun! More fashion soon... hopefully this will make up for my spotty posting.

I Wish I Were Gap Toothed

I got this dress at the Lyell Sample Sale last week and hemmed it about 6" shorter (I think a little too short by accident!) I don't have anything as pretty as this in my closet. This was my fourth of July outfit (and what I am wearing right now actually!)

Muggy

My plans for today are to spend the next four or five hours watching the entire season of Summer Heights High at my boyfriends house and then go get vegan food at Wild Ginger. Hopefully he is down. This is what I bought with my first paycheck. It is a Rachel Comey onesie from Creatures of Comfort that I got for half off. Hoorayy! I really love it.

I'm not going to pretend I will ever be able to afford anything at Marni, but I forgot how beautiful the FW09 collection is. I am pretty over all black (despite that i am usually head to toe in black), and I love the mix of fleshy pinks and navy. So pretty.

in other news, I just looked outside and its pourrrring rain. It was sunny this morning when I went to the flea market! The weather in nyc has been shit lately.

Glamour Italia

I am in the current issue of Glamour Italia for the blog and my selling blog along with This is Howl, Sally Jane Vintage and a few others. It was pretty exciting to receive the pdf! I am still scowering NYC magazine shops for the physical magazine. I guess this means I need to really be more active. Agh! I like that my face is in none of the photos haha.

six, seven, eight, triple nine, eight, two, one, two

I love being at my parents house. I know I am a city girl at heart but there are no thrift stores in nyc quite like the ones in the suburbs. I found the most perfect tuxedo blazer at salvation army the other day, shoulder pads, fitted, long lapels, wrist-length sleeves... I have also caught up on the latest top 40 and thats pretty exciting too...the "kiss me through the phone" song, so good right? uh huh, i know.

Hair Pins

For the first time in a very long time my hair is getting past the medium, just over my shoulders length! I am pretty proud of myself for not cutting it. I always say I want long hair and then cut it to my shoulders a day later. I have been trying to wear it in different ways now that I can kinda, and my bangs are growing out so I need to find a way to keep them out of my eyes. Lately I have been revisiting my elementary school favorite ~ the french braid ~ and putting this safety pin through the middle (a la that photo from stand up comedy I posted a week or two ago). And for my bangs, because I refuse to eat or sit on the computer or in class or do anything at all now with my hair in my face, I have been playing around with this big french hair pin.

beach hair

Today Lindsay, Victoria, Zoe and I spent all day working on our sunburns in Prospect Park. It really did look like a massive waterless beach. Maybe I am crazy but I love hot weather! I would rather it be 90 degrees than 65. Tomorrow I think it is supposed to be just as nice. I have so much school work to do but I don't really care that much. Tonight I am going to a prom party in Bushwick. I was planning on getting really decked out but I am scared I will be one of a few that do. Blah, I am sweaty. I am probably just going to continue wearing close to nothing (woo!) until I go out tonight.

Interview Outfit

So I had my interview today at Helmut Lang. I am crossing my fingers really hard. It seems like it would be a really amazing and fun and laid back place to work, but it also sounded like they have a lot more people to interview. I forgot how gorgeous the West Village is! I don't ever have any reason to be in that area, but even in the rain today it was so quiet and pretty.

Studio Visit

I just dropped my entire ice coffee all over the floor of my studio. This is the second time this has happened! I am killing time before class so I thought I would show you my matching cut out knees and cut out shoulders. The sweatshirt is by Slow and Steady Wins the Race and the jeans are from OAK. I cut them up the other night and I am kind of happy with how they came out! I guess its pretty hard to mess that up.
