Graduating college is depressing

I have this really bad habit where I like to make up reasons as to why I need a new ________. That being said, I am graduating in two weeks from NYU and I want to find a dress. Hillary Clinton is speaking! Also all these emails from Refinery 29 about their Pop-Up shop at Port Authority that's starting tomorrow are already making me feel pretty shitty about what might happen to my bank account in the next week. Ahh, I need better self restraint! I really have been getting better about not frivolously buying things, I actually barely step into any stores other than the one I work in, but it's hard, and of course, I always have the Internet to torment me.

so, if it was actually in my budget to buy anything right now, I think these would look pretty fab under my violet polyester cap and gown...

Hair Pins

For the first time in a very long time my hair is getting past the medium, just over my shoulders length! I am pretty proud of myself for not cutting it. I always say I want long hair and then cut it to my shoulders a day later. I have been trying to wear it in different ways now that I can kinda, and my bangs are growing out so I need to find a way to keep them out of my eyes. Lately I have been revisiting my elementary school favorite ~ the french braid ~ and putting this safety pin through the middle (a la that photo from stand up comedy I posted a week or two ago). And for my bangs, because I refuse to eat or sit on the computer or in class or do anything at all now with my hair in my face, I have been playing around with this big french hair pin.

Tallest Man on Earth

Tallest Man on Earth - The Gardener - A Take Away Show from La Blogotheque on Vimeo.

My love for all things Swedish continues. I have been listening to the Tallest Man on Earth on repeat for two days. This video from the Blogotheque is so gorgeous. All of their videos are really amazing actually. Watch it! I promise.

Stacks on deck

(Acne Jun Shirt, Acne Babe Lyocell Dress, Hope Mid Bag, TopShop Gray Baxter Jeans, Emma Cook Black Frill Vest, Pleasure Principle Knotted Scarf Tank )

I already have a sunburn on my back, smell kinda like dirt, and we have all our windows wide open. It's so so so nice. I finally carried my bike downstairs today. It's an old cruiser so it's super heavy. Unfortunately both tires are totally flat so I couldn't get to use it, but either way I'm happy its outside!

beach hair

Today Lindsay, Victoria, Zoe and I spent all day working on our sunburns in Prospect Park. It really did look like a massive waterless beach. Maybe I am crazy but I love hot weather! I would rather it be 90 degrees than 65. Tomorrow I think it is supposed to be just as nice. I have so much school work to do but I don't really care that much. Tonight I am going to a prom party in Bushwick. I was planning on getting really decked out but I am scared I will be one of a few that do. Blah, I am sweaty. I am probably just going to continue wearing close to nothing (woo!) until I go out tonight.

(and if anyone cares! my swimsuit is APC Madras from last summer)

Interview Outfit

So I had my interview today at Helmut Lang. I am crossing my fingers really hard. It seems like it would be a really amazing and fun and laid back place to work, but it also sounded like they have a lot more people to interview. I forgot how gorgeous the West Village is! I don't ever have any reason to be in that area, but even in the rain today it was so quiet and pretty.

I like this guy

When I was looking through Tres Bien Shop yesterday I fell in love with the belgian designer, Stephan Schneider. I have an interview tomorrow at Helmut Lang (ahh!) and I impulsively walked into Opening Ceremony after work with the excuse I was there to find an interview outfit (expect lots of new things for sale soon on my other blog to compensate) and they had tons of his clothes. And I bought something. I should feel guilty but I don't really. And if I don't get the job, at least I have a really amazing dress for summer, right? right. right! I will post pictures eventually, but while my camera is out on loan for the moment, here are some photos of his SS09 collection. The models are so cute too.

Studio Visit

I just dropped my entire ice coffee all over the floor of my studio. This is the second time this has happened! I am killing time before class so I thought I would show you my matching cut out knees and cut out shoulders. The sweatshirt is by Slow and Steady Wins the Race and the jeans are from OAK. I cut them up the other night and I am kind of happy with how they came out! I guess its pretty hard to mess that up.

Bandwagon

(ps. I just started SHOP A.C.R. to sell a few things in my closet that haven't gotten enough wear)

Shop Standing Up

Stand Up Comedy - This is definitely my new favorite e-shop. I don't know why it took me so long to stumble upon it, but I wish it was in NYC so I could physically shop here! The designers they stock are very specific in a really good way I think (the likes of Acne, Hope, Wood Wood, Henrik Vibskov etc) and I love the simplicity of the site too. Wishlist:

I love that hair pin idea! We sell big safety pins like that at a detacher and I am definitely going to grab one next time I'm there.

la la la

gold tank - thrifted D&G
black floral skirt - self made from vintage fabric
tights and socks - H&M
oxfords - Salvatore Ferragamo via eBay
black linen jacket I'm holding - Isabel Marant

I have been finding really beautiful vintage fabric on Etsy. I only had enough of this black and yellow fabric to make one skirt but I just ordered a few yards of a super pretty purple and white floral fabric and if I have some left over expect some new things in my own shop.

la garconne

I love pawing through all the looks on la garconne. I think a lot of the time the outfits they put together just for individual items are more inspirational to me than their lookbooks (even though the preen coat in one of their looks is soooo awesome.) I am sitting on the couch at my parent's house in massachusetts watching trashy tv and i don't want to go back to new york at alll tonight.

The Preen coat I was talking about. Agh. So cute. I just got a cheap monday coat from Urban for my birthday that reminded me of the black overcoat from Hope, hopefully a real outfit post soon! I am so lazy about taking photos.

the replacements

I found these beauties on ebay last weekend! They are suede and leather Ferragamo's and were insanely cheap. I've been wearing my Dieppa Restrepo lace-ups into the ground and I still feel kinda bad about throwing them away. I tried to photograph some clothes today but my apartment is way too bright and washes everything out (see last post) and I don't have any consistently good places to take pictures. We are moving in July, so maybe I wont have a problem in our new apartment (what a nerdy thing to think about!).

Ferragamo wing-tips via Ebay

my destroyed Dieppa Restrepo patent oxfords. R.I.P.

(ps. I've been cleaning out my closet a lot this week and if anyones interested I have a lot of things on eBay)

I love the swedes/HOPE SS09

This is how I want to dress everyday. The amount of color is perfect, the shapes are perfect, the simplicity is perfect. I love everything about it.
